Backseat passenger dies in minivan crash

A 30-year-old man, riding as a passenger in a minivan, died in a single vehicle crash on Detroit‘s west side that left two others injured, police said.

The crash took place early Sunday at 3:15 a.m., on eastbound Plymouth Road at Ward, which is east of Schaefer.

 

The party of three were in a white 2007 Chrysler Town & Country, headed eastbound on Plymouth, when the minivan left the roadway and struck a fence outside of a vacant building.

The 30-year-old man, who was a backseat passenger, died at the scene.

Another 30-year-old man hurt his head and back in the crash and required a medic transport to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

A 29-year-old woman suffered trauma to the body and took a medic transport as well. Her condition was not immediately available.
