Boulder County sheriff‘s deputies, a SWAT team and Boulder police are on the scene at a home in unincorporated Boulder County where a man accused of assaulting two Boulder police officers has barricaded himself inside on Thursday night.
Boulder County Sheriff‘s Office spokeswoman Carrie Haverfield said that Boulder police were attempting to make with the man at a home on Middle Crest Road — located to the southwest of Lefthand Canyon Drive and U.S. 36 — and the man allegedly assaulted two officers and ran inside the home.
“We are attempting to communicate with him,” she said.
Haverfield did not have any information on the condition of the Boulder officers, and said any such information would have to come from the Boulder Police Department.
She said county resources were called out shortly before 7 p.m. to include a SWAT team and a negotiation team.
Haverfield added that nearby residents were notified via reverse 911 to shelter in their homes, and those people will be notified once the scene is cleared. People are being asked to avoid the area because of heavy police presence.
Radio traffic indicated the man is possibly armed.
