Dozens of vehicles piled up in crashes Sunday on westbound Interstate 94 on the west side of Michigan, a dispatcher for the Van Buren County Sheriff‘s Office said.
The Michigan Department of Transportation said on its Twitter account the crashes happened at exits 52, 60 and 66.
Details are sparse in the early hours after the crash, which the dispatcher estimated began around noon.
There are believed to be no fatalities at this point, according to the dispatcher, who said she could not be quoted by name.
Just before 4 p.m., Carolyn Wyllie, a spokeswoman for the Bronson Health Care Group, said that Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo had begun receiving patients injured in the pileup. With one patient en route, seven others had been admitted. One was in serious condition, and the remaining six were in fair condition.
