Gujarat: Gun shots fired at a man in Vapi in personal rivalry

SURAT: Some unidentified assailants fired one round at a 26-year-old man when he was on a flyover near UPL company on national highway 48 in . Police booked offence against three unidentified persons in Vapi GIDC police station and started investigation. Police suspect role of some person who fired at the victim in personal rivalry.
Police booked three men following complaint of Hiren Patel, a resident of Balitha. Patel was returning home from residence of his fiancee when the attackers came in a car and one person sitting on back seat fired at him on Sunday afternoon. The attackers were in a Swift Dzire car while Patel was in his new Swift car. The attacker‘s car overtook Patel‘s car from left side and slowed down before firing. The bullet, that was fired from a country made pistol, hit the windshield of Patel‘s car and stopped on the dashboard.

Patel went below the dashboard and survived unhurt. The attackers escaped from the location immediately after firing one round. Patel parked his car on road side and after getting down from the flyover he took an auto rickshaw to reach police station.

Following the information police did nakabandi at various locations around Vapi to nab the attackers. Preliminary police investigation revealed that Patel had received threats in recent past over some personal rivalry. Police are questioning some persons to get more details for possible involvement in the attack.
