A large chunk of Interstate 94 in western Michigan is shut down following three different crashes that caused pileups involving an estimated 20-50 vehicles, according to the Van Buren Sherriff‘s Department.

The crashes happened this afternoon at exit 62, 60 and 56, said a Van Buren Sheriff‘s dispatcher who declined to give her name.

While the dispatcher was unsure when exactly the crashes occurred, she said the department has sent “everybody that we have” to the scene of the incident, calling in more troopers.

“Everyone who is available is there,” she said, adding that the freeway is closed from exit 56 to exit 66 as a result.

So far, there have been no reported fatalities she said, before rushing to get off the phone to coordinate more response to the accidents.
