The annual New Year‘s Eve celebration kicks off at 10 p.m. tonight in downtown White Plains, in what city officials say will be a “family friendly” night.
The celebration will feature vendors, live entertainment and a DJ, followed by the annual ball drop, confetti and fireworks sponsored by White Plains Hospital. The festivities will be centered at the intersection of Main and Court streets.
There are four gated points to enter the area:
• Main Street at Church Street
• Renaissance Square at Williams Street
• Court Street at Martine Avenue
• Martine Avenue at Mamaroneck Avenue
Parking will be available at the White Plains City Center parking garage, and the Hamilton-Main and Lexington-Grove parking garages. Thousands are expected at the celebration, so plan to get there early.
Heineken USA will also sponsor the New Year Safe Ride program for revelers who are 21 and older. A safe ride transportation stand will be on the corner of East Post Road and Mamaroneck Avenue between 11 p.m. tonight and 3 a.m. tomorrow morning.
